On January 1st of this year I made a new years resolution to lose weight and improve my overall health. I am sure this is a very common resolution and like most of everyone else who resolves to get in shape I have failed miserably at it. I Sat down and tried to figure out why I had failed so miserably with this resolution and the most common excuse I keep coming up with is that I just dont have time to goto the gym. With that in mind I decided to purchase and elliptical trainer as that is basically all I was using at the gym anyway and I figured a few months gym membership would pay for a decent elliptical trainer. I researched tons of diffferent websites and read several Schwinn 430 elliptical trainer reviews but none of them really gave me all of the information I was looking for.

So with that back story out of the way here is my Schwinn 430 Elliptical Trainer Review:

When I was looking at the schwinn 430 elliptical trainer I focused on the following five key areas: Features, Build Quality, Controls, Price, and finally the warranty. When you are looking to purchase an elliptical trainer for home use you should decide which of these areas is the most important to you. There are many different models and grades of elliptical trainers to choose from and just because two models are close to the same price does not mean they are the same quality or offer the same features. I hope that this review will give you the information you need to decide if the schwinn 430 is the right elliptical trainer for you.

Price

The biggest factor for most people including myself is price. It doesnt matter if it is the best elliptical machine known to man if I cant afford to buy it then I really dont care what features it has. Elliptical trainers range in price from just under $200 to well over $2000 depending on the quality and features. The trainers on the lower end of this price range tend to be very cheap consumer grade machines that will probably get the job done for a year or so and thats about it. The top end of this range is going to be the “Gym grade” models that are designed for constant abuse all day everyday and are almost bullet proof. The Schwinn 430 elliptical has a retail price of $799 but can be found much cheaper than that at several online retailers. This price puts this trainer at the top end of the consumer models and makes it a great choice for someone who is looking for a machine that will last and can withstand actually being used on a daily basis.

Build Quality

Second to price for me is build quality. I want to make sure the product I just spent my hard earned cash on is going to be built well enough to do the job. Before the Schwinn 430 I purchase a cheap elliptical at the local sporting goods store and it just felt very cheap, I really thought I was going to break the machine just using it very lightly for a few days. The Schwinn is feels rock solid nothing like the cheap trainer from the local sporting goods store. The schwinn 430 elliptical trainer is very sturdy and feels like a very well built machine. The quality of this trainer is very close to some of the units I have seen at my local gym and it really does operate just as smoothly as much more expensive gym models.

Controls

Another big difference you will notice between the cheap trainers and their gym counterparts is the controls and monitor available. The schwinn 430 offers hand grip mounted
heart rate sensor so you can monitor you heart rate at all times while using the machine to help maximize your calorie burn. The Schwinn also offers 8 programmable resistance levels in addition to 8 preprogrammed workout that you can follow. All of you vital statistics andheart rate information is displayed on a large easy to read LCD screen

Warranty

The last but certainly just as important aspect of my decision was the warranty offered. The schwinn 430 comes with one of the best warranties of any elliptical trainer I looked at. Schwinn offers a 15 year warranty on the frame, 2 years on all parts, 1 year on all electronics and 3 months on any labor needed. After using this machine for a few weeks I doubt I will ever need to use that warranty but it is nice to know I have it just in case.
